Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group access places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.

Viewers can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
