Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important political figure stated the vandalism made him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
